The Key Scientific Research Base of Textile Conservation of the National Cultural Heritage Administration (hereinafter referred to as the “Base”) was approved by the National Cultural Heritage Administion in 2010 and officially established in 2012. Over the past decade, seven workstations have been set up by the Base at home and abroad, and the crew of the Base has worked massively in scientific research, emergency conservation, cultural heritage restoration, personnel training etc., with fruitful results, forming scientific cognition-oriented and research-based restoration characteristics.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the China National Silk Museum in 2022, this exhibition utilizes the textile heritages conserved and restored by the Base over the years as the carriers to demonstrate the synergistic application of conventional restoration techniques and modern technological means in the conservation of textile heritages in order to review and summarize the work of the Base over the years and thus promote the high-level development of textile heritage conservation and restoration techniques.
