Chinese Silk Culture Enters Bryant University (2013-10-04)

    At local time 7:00 pm on 4th Oct. 2013,the exhibition “Silk Culture: Chinese Silk Culture of 5,000 Years” in partner with the China National Silk Museum, was presented as one in a series events celebrating Bryant University's 150 year anniversary and annual Mid-Autumn Festival. There was an opening ceremony in Grand Hall of Bryant University. This is the first time that a Chinese silk culture exhibition has entered the Confucius Institute.

    Before the exhibition opened, Ronald K. Machtley, President of BryantUniversity, together with his wife, accompanied guests from local educational institutes, schools and media, etc., to have a pre-tour with the guidance from a silk expert of China National Silk Museum, Yang Zhou.

    At 6:00 pm, every guest, host and audience entered Janikes to enjoy a keynote speech given by Ms. Nannan Yu, curator of China National Silk Museum, a traditional silk fashion show featuring Bryant student models and a performance by Bryant's award-winning dragon dance team one by one, before which President Machtley, Mrs. Machtley and Vice President of International Affairs, Professor Hong Yang, addressed the guests and gave thanks to the China National Silk Museum and Mr. Wenqi Bao, Chairman of Hangzhou Limin Traditional Chinese Garment Factory, who donated all garments for the fashion show.

    At 7:00 pm, everyone went back to Grand Hall to witness the opening ceremony of the exhibition and enjoy moon cakes and Chinese tea at reception. Professor Hong Yang, sent his congratulations to head curator of China National Silk Museum, Dr. Feng Zhao, praising the whole event as a"full success" after the event.

    The exhibition is from 4th Oct. to 11th Oct., 2013.
