Lecture “Chinese Treasures in Slovenia: Taking Skušek’s Collection as Example” in CNSM (2014-07-29)

        On the afternoon of July 29, Nata?a Vampelj Suhadolnik, assistant professor from University of Ljublijana, Slovenia, makes a speech on “Chinese Treasures in Slovenia: Taking Sku?ek’s Collection as Example”.

        Nata?a introduces their work in progress about the identification, classification, and digitization of Chinese artworks, and some information about Sku?ek’s collection and textiles, as well. As she mentions, there is no program doing a complete study, such as classification, on Chinese treasures collected in Slovenia bymuseums, institutions, and individuals yet, until year of 2006, a program named “Eastern Asian Art Treasures Collected in Slovenia: A Plan on Classification, Recording and Digitization”, collaborated by Department of Asianand African studies, University of Ljublijana, Slovenia and National Museum of Slovenia.

        Up to now, there are 12 batches of cultural objects and artworks collected by different museums and institutions in Slovenia, including books, photographs, paintings,ceramics, sculptures, Buddha statues, fabircs, furniture, bronzes, etc., which were almost taken into Slovenia in 19-20 centuries. Among which, the most important collector is Ivan Sku?ek, with about 500 pieces.
