On August 23rd, 2018, the “Ornamental Patterns from Ancient Chinese Textiles” collection was released on the second day of Beijing International Book Fair.
The series of books focuses on ornamental patterns of silk cultural relics, collects first-hand data in large quantities and uses modern restoration techniques, trying to show the beauty of ancient silk designs and play a role in the inheritance and development of the silk cultural heritage of the motherland. Based on the age and genre of these silk cultural relics, the collection consists of ten volumes. They are intended to promote the combination of high technologies and traditional Chinese crafts such as weaving, printing & dyeing as well as embroidery, research and establish cultural works of art database, promote the optimization and upgrading of traditional cultural industries and provide the ancient silks with new vitality by making innovation on the basis of inheriting the characteristics of traditional folk arts and crafts.

Editor-in-chief ZHAO Feng, incumbent Curator of China National Silk Museum, Professor of Shanghai Donghua University (formerly known as China Textile University), Doctoral Supervisor, Member of the National Committee for Cultural Relics Authentication and Preservation, Chairman of International Association for the Study of Silk Road Textiles (IASSRT). He was the editor-in-chief of A General History of Chinese Silks, The Complete Collection of Dunhuang Silk Art, Chinese Silk Art (English version). The authors of this collection include YUAN Xuanping, WANG Le, XU Zheng, WANG Fang, GU Chunhua, SU Miao, YU Xiaoqun, MAO Huiwei, AN Weizhu, JIANG Yuqiu, MIAO Huicui, CAI Xin, WANG Lufang, ZHAO Fan, and SUN Peiyan.
